Opportunities Available to Serve Your Club

Team Captain:

Have you always dreamed of being called Captain?  Leading hundreds of your teammates on one of the most revered bike rides in the state?  Do you have the ability to bring people together to achieve a common goal?  Can people hear you without a bullhorn?  (OK, that’s just a plus!)

As our founding and current TeamCBC Captain, Bob Oderkirk, has announced he is stepping down at the end of this year, we are seeking a new TeamCBC Captain.  This role is the point person for all activities associated with Bike MS, as well as other charity rides during the year.  Duties include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Lead BikeMS activities associated with the annual ride in New Bern – along with help from volunteers
  • Serve as point person with the MS Society to ensure TeamCBC participation
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to lead and kick-off weekly and “event” rides
  • Inspire volunteers to deliver a great riding experience on TeamCBC rides

We would like to fill this role as soon as possible, to give you the opportunity to work with Bob at BikeMS this year and learn all the details of the job – and give you a jump start to making the role your very own!

If you are interested in this fun, rewarding, and unpaid position, please email Rick Bunnell at president@teamCBC.com, or catch Rick following one of our weekly rides.

Board Member(s)

TeamCBC has TWO openings on the 8-member Board of Directors serving 2-year terms.  One term starts effective immediately, as long-time board member Linda Murray will be relocating to Florida later this month.  The second term begins effective January 1, 2022, as Bob Oderkirk will step down from both of his board duties as well as his role as Team Captain.  This is an opportunity to work with a dedicated group of people who are working hard to amplify cycling in the greater Triangle area.

Board commitment includes:

  • participation in monthly/bi-monthly board meetings
  • serve as a TeamCBC ambassador at community rides, Triangle Training rides, and other area cycling events
  • Assist in recruiting volunteers for TeamCBC events
  • Draft and uphold team code of conduct,

If you are interested in this fun, rewarding, and unpaid position, please email Rick Bunnell at president@teamCBC.com, or catch Rick following one of our weekly rides.  Or, talk to one of our current board members (Nancy Cantebury, Tom Henson, Dan Leinbach, Sheila Morin, Bob Oderkirk, or Jen Tallett) for the scoop on how you can be involved.

Web/Social Media Guru

Let’s face it – there’s a lot of ways to communicate with our team members about rides, events, and other team activities.  And, it takes someone who is well versed in social media, website development, and “how-to” work an email list.  IF you are that person – WE NEED YOU!!!

TeamCBC is seeking a Web/Social Media Guru to help bring our website up-to-date, help to manage our Facebook, MeetUp, Twitter, and Insta presence, and to help make sure we are communicating the right way – without filling up everyone’s email boxes!. This role will involve setting up the website, and then approximately 1-2 hours per week helping to ensure information is where it is supposed to be.  It’s a great opportunity for someone who may be in a communications or digital role (or a student with that in mind for a major)

If you are interested in this fun, rewarding, and unpaid position, please email Rick Bunnell at president@teamCBC.com, or catch Rick following one of our weekly rides.

As part of our commitment to keeping the roads we ride on clean, Carolina Brewing Company and TeamCBC are responsible for the twice-yearly clean-up of Brewery Hill.   This role will organize a trash pick-up event every 6 months, usually followed by complimentary refreshing adult beverages at CBC.  This role interfaces with Team CBC, CBC, and NCDOT to schedule those clean-up events.

If you are interested in this fun, rewarding, and unpaid position, please email Rick Bunnell at president@teamCBC.com, or catch Rick following one of our weekly rides.
