Routes

Unless otherwise noted, CBC rides are "no drop", meaning the team rides as a group. The pace may not be the same for all riders, but someone is assigned as ride leader. It is the leader's responsibility to ensure all riders make it back to the starting point safe. This usually means the leader will "sweep the ride", in other words, stay back with the slowest rider.

Rides are usually held on Sunday and originate from the Carolina Brewing Company in Holly Springs. Four levels are supported: 16, 28, 42, and 72 miles. Ride start times are staggered to ensure all riders, regardless of route length, end back at the brewery around 1:00 to socialize as a single team.

All CBC rides place primary focus on safety. While all rides are at your own risk, the ride leader ensures the pace is within the stated speed, and makes sure all riders are accounted for at stops and turns. Ride leaders are seasoned cyclists who are versed in group riding and will help those new to cycling or new to group cycling develop these skills as well.

The team has no membership dues and is open to all ages. All riders must sign a waiver before their first ride. Riders are required to know and follow North Carolina cycling laws, and wear helmets. Riders under the age of 18 may participate provided the ride leader agrees, a parent or guardian accompanies the child, and a parent or guardian has signed a waiver for the underage rider. All riders may participate in the post-ride social events. Riders age 21 or over can responsibly enjoy the beer.
